We have two senior teams in the North West Counties Football League.
The first team are currently lying 3rd in the Premier Division and are looking to gain promotion to the Evostik league at the end of the season.
To do that the team must finish top of their league and a lot of work had to be carried out to bring the ground up to standard. This entails securing all fences so that the game cannot be watched from outside the stadium. Installing new turnstiles, more seating (50), an outside toilet block and tarmacadaming of the entrances to the ground.
The 2nd team play in the Reserve division of the North West Counties league, and are on the lookout for young players so they can be coached hopefully ready for the first team in a few year's time.
The youth set up includes teams from the age groups U/18, U/14, U/13, U/12, U/13 (2 teams), U/10, U/9, U/8, U/7 and U/6. Most of these teams play in a league usually on a Sunday morning/afternoon.
Training takes place on a Saturday morning down Victory Park at 10:30am.
Further information can be gleaned from our website about who coaches which team.
The club is always looking for people to get involved off the field as well as on it. We constantly need someone to work behind the bar or in the kitchen on match days. Or to help in ground maintenance, which is always on the go most weeks.
Formed in 1972 and named Barnoldswick United (1972), - so called due to being canny Yorkshiremen - had there had been a previous club named Barnoldswick United and they had outstanding debts the new club would have been liable for them.
The field started out as a grazing meadow for cattle, after a lot of hard work, it is now the pitch we play on. The club had 2 teams playing in the Craven & District Football League in the early 1990's we joined the East Lancashire Football League again with 2 teams. The 2003/2004 season brought the amalgamation of Barnoldswick United (1972), Barnoldswick Park Rovers and Salterforth Juniors and we changed our name to Barnoldswick Town Football Club. We then ran 3 senior teams. In the late 1990's our 1st and 2nd teams joined The West Lancashire Football League, our 3rds staying in The East Lancashire Football League.
It has always been in the club's constitution to get our ground up to the minimum standards of The North West Counties Football League and the 2009/2010 season has seen us accepted into The North West Counties Football League, for our 1st and 2nd teams.
We have 2 pitches one being floodlit plus a floodlit training pitch. Our club house can hold up to 120 people and is hired out for functions. Our main sponsor is Silentnight Beds Ltd and the ground is named The Silentnight Beds Stadium.
We started last season 2009/10 with 3 managers and they took a lot of stick especially from Radio Lancashire that 3 managers cannot possibly run a successful football team. Well they proved them all wrong by finishing Runners up in the league and finalists in the prestigious West Riding County Cup beating Guiseley who won promotion to the Conference North along the way. It was an interesting season as we only expected to hold our own and try to make sure we didn't end up at the bottom of the league, so once again we are looking forward to avoid relegation in the first instance and take it from there.
Following on from our success in the 2009/10 season we went from just looking to avoid relegation in the Premier Division 2010/11 to astound ourselves by finishing a creditable 7th in the league, only suspensions and injuries we feel robbed us of a top three spot.
This season sees us once again with the main aim not to get relegated, but as we have only lost one of the players from last season's squad and gained three quality players realistically we hope for a top ten finish again.
