The Bistro
Our brand new Bistro is now open! It promises to be a warm and welcoming place for a relaxing coffee, a glass of wine, a chilled beer or some classic food dishes to make your mouth water!
The Food - The menu is simple, top quality and put together with locally sourced ingredients. Everything is freshly cooked. There will be daily specials and varied home cooked breads and cakes – imagine the smell…..
Events - There will be a plethora of special evenings held every month featuring guest chefs/food styles like Kashmiri, Thai, Cantonese and Mexican.
We will host wine and beverage tasting nights with the drinks matched to the food by our own wine supplier.more
The Cellar Bar
Our cosy cellar bar pub in Barnoldswick open Thursday to Sunday evenings and for functions outside those hours.
How it came to be - Since converting our derelict storage area into a wine & beer bar/pub in the cellars below what is now our Bistro, the business has been vastly transformed from the V.G shop it was originally. The pubs scene in Barnoldswick started to change dramatically when the Cellar Bar opened in 2002 providing a comfortable place to meet friends, listen to some live music or just go for a beer after work.
We opened up a new experience for the very many people in our area who simply want to go out for a civilised night out in good surroundings.
Real Ales & Great Wines - Always three great hand-pulled real ales are available. Four to Five red and white wines that do change regularly, with a selected rosé and bottles of fizz (varies between Cava, Proscecco and others). We have a solid selection of spirits and bottled lagers and ciders.
We host wine and whisky tastings on a regular basis, which are always popular.
We do not have any “big brands” in the bar – we encourage out customers to try products from small suppliers & hopefully expand their taste & in turn give you more choice.
Continental Lagers - You won’t find run of the mill lager here! The best seller in the Cellar bar is without doubt the Dutch Pilsner lager, Lindeboom. It has become infamous! Ask for details! We are now proud to announce the arrival of Flensburger look here… sorry that’s not it!?.. try here which is a 4% German lager…. and also Schneider Weisse Tap 7 which is a lovely German wheat beer.
Music - Alan and Penny hold open-mic evenings on the last Sunday of every month, initiated originally by Linda Simpson (of Magna Carta fame). The local talent is amazing right now. The musical talent in Barnoldswick is really good, from kids through to adults. Barnoldswick has genuinely great musicians. The Cellar Bar is a great place to see some of the local talent perform.
