Britain's best urban beach is back!

Nestling in the Pennine Hills, Barnoldswick couldn't get further from the sea, but during August the town has a fantastic family friendly beach on the town square which is open from Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm.

With tons of golden sand covering over 60 square metres of the square, Barnoldswick Beach is the perfect place for tiny tots to twelve year olds to enjoy the sand between their toes and build sandcastles to their heart's delight.

And with a surf simulator on some days, there's a challenge for teens and oldies too!

Seaside donkeys give rides along the town square's sett paved street on Donkey Days.

Donkey Days are scheduled for the 4th, 9th, 16th and 23rd August, together with a 'wildcard day'; this could be any day that the beach is open!

You can hunt Barlick Gold with the town centre Treasure Trail.

There's a craft table and board games and books to read!

Children's entertainment and visiting activities are on hand.

Barnoldswick is a great sea-side town, without the sea!

There's plenty of chill out seating for parents and families by the Beach and at surrounding cafes. Barnoldswick Beach is a great social occasion!

Barnoldswick Beach is completely covered by a massive marquee, so whatever the weather the Beach is a great day out!

Barnoldswick Beach is open Mondays to Saturdays from 10am to 4pm until 29th August.

The Beach is provided by Barnoldswick Town Council and is run entirely by volunteers.
