This magnificent mill engine, with its two cylinders and 16 foot flywheel can generate over 600 Indicated Horsepower and originally drove some 1,250 weaving looms via its main shaft some 263 feet in length. The Bancroft Mill Engine Trust relies entirely on visitor entrance, donations and membership fees for its day to day running expenses. The mill site is disabled friendly with ample parking and on steaming days we have delicious home made refreshments available, along with a range of original souvenirs, the Bancroft DVD and tea towels woven on our own loom.

Barnoldswick's very own independent Cinema!

Cinema screenings usually take place on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the 1st and 3rd weekend of each month, together with extra screenings during school holidays.more

Call the Rainhall Centre on 01282 818250 for details of film listings or call into the centre to pick up a film flyer.

There are up to typically six films each weekend, with screenings usually at 2pm, 5pm and 7pm on Fridays, 3pm and 7pm on Saturdays and 7pm on Sundays.

The sort of film being shown depends on what is available in recent releases. Typically, Friday tea time and Saturday afternoon films are family friendly; Friday evening and Saturday evening films usually appeal to teens and family audiences liking adventure; and Friday afternoon and Sunday evening films are typically dramas appealing to a more mature audience.

The cinema is equipped with Large Screen, High Definition, Digital Projection with 5.1 surround sound for a true cinema experience. Comfortable raked seating, with allocated space for wheelchairs, enables clear un-interrupted views of the screen.

The Cinema is operated by a team of volunteers, who choose the films, act as ushers, run the tuck shop , box office, projection equipment, publicity and help with installation of the cinema equipment. Let us know if you would like to join the volunteer group.

Due to licensing requirements, most films are shown without charge and we aren't able to advertise the particular films being shown beyond the Rainhall Centre itself. You can keep up to date with screenings and other activities at the Rainhall Centre and in Barnoldswick by getting the centre's What's On guide emailed to your inbox; please fill in a slip at the Rainhall reception.

There is a well stocked refreshment counter at the centre with good value sweets and drinks. We also have home made cake and good quality coffee available.
