||Leeds and Liverpool Canal towpath, Barnoldswick BB18
The canal tow path in Barnoldswick is a very popular route for walkers and cyclists, giving easy access to open countryside along the summit stretch of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal towards Salterforth or beyond Greenberfield Locks amongst the drumlin field towards Skipton.
In 2007, the tow path throughout Barnoldswick was improved to create a smooth hardwearing surface.
The surfacing contractors used special narrow equipment on the canalside path to seal the surface.
These pictures show the work being carried out on the stretch of tow path alongside the Rolls-Royce Bankfield site.
The work was paid for by Pendle Council and by grants for cycling schemes.
